You are ready to recover from trauma. The world feels unpredictable and you crave stability. You feel so off balance. You question your thinking and have lost trust in your innate wisdom. You crave authentic connections both with yourself and with others.
You are sick and tired of feeling anxious, depressed, and stressed. You want to improve your relationships, learn how to build confidence and self-esteem, heal complex trauma, and trust others.
Who is your ideal client?
I enjoy working with individuals that are willing to be curious with themselves and others. Even though an individual may come to their first session being judgmental about themselves or therapy, I value those that are willing to open their minds to the therapeutic process. I also really enjoy working with Spanish- and English-speaking Latinx/a/o individuals/populations as I identify as Latina myself.
What's something you wish people knew about therapy or the therapy process?
It takes time, patience and curiosity. People often assume that after 1-2 sessions, a therapist will judge them as "curable, incurable, treatable, untreatable, etc," but really, this is a time where a therapist begins to establish trust and understands the client's individual strengths, needs, abilities, and preferences to work towards the client's goal.
Why do you like being a therapist?
I enjoy working alongside individuals who are on their journey to better mental and physical health. I enjoy providing culturally sensitive services and learning new things from my clients as well.
Besides being a therapist, what do you enjoy in your spare time?
Playing volleyball, walking or running in nature, cooking or playing video games with my family, traveling to new cities or countries, and reading fiction or non-fiction.
What is your favorite book, podcast or mental health resource?
Book- What My Bones Know: A Memoir of Healing from Complex Trauma
