Anxiety Treatment in Detroit & Throughout Michigan

Anxiety Treatment for High Achievers

People see you as driven, but you look back and realize anxiety has been in the driver seat this whole time. It's helped you make sure everything is done perfectly, with little room for error and it's how you've been able to build the life you have. But now, you are starting to realize - you are exhausted.

You are starting to realize that your relationships don't really feel connected, that the climb to the top at work is never ending, and you've done so much in your life because you "should" not because you actually really love it.

You aren't having panic attacks but you definitely worry, and work really hard to keep all your fears at bay. Your body feels on edge (and honestly tired too!), your heart feels heavy and all you know to do is MORE. You've been spread thin for so long and unable to say no that you don't know who you are or what you want.

Anxiety Therapy Can Help

Our anxiety therapists help teens and adults with high-functioning anxiety to step off the hamster wheel of worry, quiet the mind, and release tension from the body so they can finally relax.

From the first session, we will work with you on finding ease in your body, slowing down your thoughts, and beginning the discovery of what is possible when anxiety is no longer in control.

Anxiety can present itself in many ways and can sometimes be tricky to spot. We all come from different backgrounds, have unique upbringings and circumstances, and therefore respond differently to each situation. Our anxiety therapists keep this in mind and factor this into their treatment approach! Below are some common anxiety symptoms we’ve seen in anxiety therapy:

  • An overwhelming sense of dread

  • Panic attacks

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Feeling tense and unable to relax

  • An impending sense of doom or panic

  • Increased heart rate, sweating, and rapid breathing

  • Feeling exhausted

  • Uncontrolled worry

  • Difficulty concentrating

Is Anxiety Treatment Right for You?

If you're struggling with anxiety, you're not alone, and it's completely normal to have questions about it. Understanding anxiety and how it affects you is the first step toward feeling better. Below, we’ll answer some common questions to help you understand anxiety better and how therapy can be a powerful tool to manage it.

  • Anxiety can feel like it never goes away, but with the right tools and support, it can get much easier to manage. While some people may experience less anxiety over time, others may need ongoing help to keep it under control. Therapy can help you understand your anxiety and reduce its impact on your life.

  • Anxiety can be triggered by many things, such as stress, trauma, difficult life events, or even small changes in your routine. For some people, certain situations like public speaking, social events, or work stress can bring on anxiety. Everyone is different, so it’s important to notice what causes your anxiety and learn ways to manage it.

  • The root of anxiety can vary from person to person, but it often comes from past experiences, stress, or trauma. Sometimes anxiety is caused by negative thoughts or worries about the future. In some cases, anxiety can also be linked to physical factors like imbalances in the brain or body.

  • If your anxiety is affecting your daily life, relationships, or ability to function, it may be a good idea to consider therapy. Other signs that therapy might help include feeling constantly worried, overwhelmed, or unable to control your anxiety. A therapist can help you figure out whether therapy is right for you and guide you through the process. The good thing is, it can hurt to seek therapy for anxiety!

  • Finding the right therapist for anxiety is important. Look for someone who makes you feel comfortable and listens to your concerns. It’s also helpful to choose a therapist who has experience in treating anxiety and uses techniques that resonate with you, such as somatic therapy, EMDR, DBT, or IFS. Most therapists have free consultations where you can ask questions about their experience and approach to treatment before meeting them.
