You haven’t felt like yourself in a long time. Despite many attempts, you struggle to show up for your responsibilities, loved ones, and yourself. It feels like you are going through the motions of life. You have dreams and aspirations, but somehow taking those first steps feels insurmountable. You feel like you’re spending all your energy just to make it through the day, aimlessly spinning your wheels. You want to do so much more and it’s disheartening. You’ve done research on your own and tried everything you can to change the patterns you keep finding yourself repeating. You are ready for additional support towards building a life you find more robust and fulfilling.
My goal is to provide the space and support that you can use towards creating the kind of life where you are not held back by your fears or insecurities. I provide a safe space to get curious about the coping mechanisms and habits that may have served you in the past but now hinder your growth. I take a holistic approach to therapy, incorporating both the body and the mind to encourage healing on multiple levels. The ultimate intention is your wellness—however, you define it. My background lends itself well to teens/adolescents and adults facing the negative impacts of trauma, including intergenerational trauma, and depression. I am also passionate about working with LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folks, including people with ADHD.
I acknowledge that structural and institutional oppressions play a significant role in the harm done to so many members of our society. I believe we deserve to honor those struggles while also focusing on what we have some control over in the healing process. Healing in the face of oppression can be a radical act of defiance, resilience, and love. All identities are welcome and invited, and no topics are off-limits in our time together.
Who is your ideal client?
I enjoy working with individuals who are looking for someone who leads with curiosity. My primary interest is working with teens/adolescents and young adults, members of the LGBT+ community and neurodivergent folks, as well as people facing elements of depression and/or ADHD in their healing journey.
What's something you wish people knew about therapy or the therapy process?
Sometimes it can be helpful to remind ourselves of some parallels between the mental/emotional healing processes and the physical ones. Just like a physician may need to rearrange a broken bone to correctly set it, or physical therapy can be challenging and uncomfortable, moments of difficulty when healing from a mental/emotional standpoint deserve to be honored as part of growing towards wellness.
Why do you like being a therapist?
I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to accompany others in their healing journeys; it feels like meaningful work that aligns well with my personal values.
Besides being a therapist, what do you enjoy in your spare time?
I love gardening, reading fantasy fiction, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and spending time with my rabbit Willy.
What is your favorite book, podcast or mental health resource?
I've been enjoying the "being well" podcast with Forrest Hanson, as well as the many free guided meditation videos on YouTube and other content meant to help folks re-center and calm down--whether that be meditative music, binaural beats, or ASMR.
